Biography & Research Interest:

Dr. Kastrukooff’s focus, both clinical and research, is multiple sclerosis (MS). This includes the treatment of patients with MS as well as the study of medications that could potentially help control the illness and improve quality of patient’s lives.
Basic research has focussed on the role of the innate immune system and emphasized the study of the role of natural killer (NK) cells. The development of new technologies will now allow us to re-visit questions that could not previously be addressed.

In addition, the role of infectious agents as environmental factors that contribute to the development of MS are under investigation. The potential of spontaneous molecular reactivation in the development of MS is under investigation.
